Chelsea fans react as their iconic keeper Petr Cech announces his retirement from football


Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed that Petr Cech would be retiring at the end of the season, following a hugely successful 20-year career as a professional footballer.



The former Czech Republic international made almost 500 appearances for the Blues across 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge before joining Arsenal in 2015, having lost his place to Thibaut Courtois.


Cech, now 36 years of age, won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and one Community Shield, as well as the Europa League and the Champions League success which he played a massive part in, saving a penalty from Lionel Messi in the semi-finals and one from Arjen Robben in extra-time of the final.



He is a true club legend in west London, and retires as one of the Blues’ most decorated and successful goalkeepers in their history.

Petr Cech was honestly our unsung hero in our champions league winning campaign, saved us in extra time when he saved that Robben penalty and also in the penalty shootouts.
